Is there a difference between a Conversation and an Interview?
Major League pitchers don’t just throw the ball; they use different types of pitches strategically. Likewise, Professional Investigators don’t just ask, “What happened?” They utilize different types of questions strategically. Unfortunately, investigators often use Conversational Rules to formulate Interview Questions! Unlike a casual conversation, a Forensic Interview must be purposefully designed to maximize the interviewer’s ability to Obtain Information and Assess Credibility, especially when an interviewee is inclined to avoid detection.
